Covenant of Grace is a loving church family that equips people to know God and His Word through serious, joyful, Christ-centered worship and service, in reliance upon the Holy Spirit. As Christ’s people, we come together to openly worship Him with Heart, Mind, Soul, and Strength. ~Deuteronomy 6.

We hope that if you’re looking for a church home in Winston-Salem, you’ll join us for worship on the Lord’s Day.  There’s no better way to learn about our church than to participate with us in the joyful worship of our God.

FAQ

We are located in the heart of the Triad of NC, at 508 Harvey St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. There is plenty of parking available in front of the church, as well as in the rear parking lot behind the church.

We have Sunday School for all ages!

Children
The nursery is available for children from birth to 3 years old, and there are multiple children’s classes, split by age/grade.

Adult
Our adult class is held in the educational building.

Our worship service follows an order that is sometimes called covenantal, structured to reflect a dialogue with God, whom we have come to meet and worship. We begin with a call to worship because it is God who calls us to know and worship him, and we respond by singing his praises and coming to him in prayer. We confess our sins and, in response, hear an assurance of pardon that God gladly gives to all repentant sinners who trust in his Son. The focal point of our worship is when we hear the reading and preaching of the word, as we believe that when scripture is faithfully taught, God’s sheep hear the voice of Jesus Christ.

We also observe communion every Lord’s day. If you are a baptized member in good standing of an evangelical church, you are welcome to partake.

We very much enjoy having our children in worship with us and love to hear them! However, if you would like to, the nursery is available during both the worship service and Sunday school for children aged birth to 3 years old.

We believe in and love what is called “exegetical” preaching. This simply means drawing out from the text. We believe in this form of preaching because we believe that the Bible “is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). In exegetical preaching our pastor preaches on a section of scripture explaining the meaning of the text, illustrating it in a way that’s beneficial to the hearers, and applying it in tangible ways for how we should respond to God’s Word.

Our pastor preaches through whole books of the Bible, passage by passage, week after week. This ensures that we don’t only look at texts that are easy to hear, but so that we hear from and engage with all of God’s word and receive a spiritual diet from the whole counsel of God.

Our music is what most would call traditional – we sing psalms and hymns out of a hymnal with a piano – but we don’t do this simply for tradition’s sake. We like to sing not just what is new, but music that spans the whole breadth of Christian history. Our music includes psalms that would have been sung by Christ, hymns from ancient and Reformer Christians, and even some songs from the 21st century. Ultimately, what we believe is important about music is that it be reverent, joyful, and God-centered.

Many at our church choose to dress in nicer clothes as a sign of reverence for God, whom we are meeting in worship. However, feel free to come as you like, as there is no dress code and no one will think differently about you for how you dress – we will simply be glad you came! Ultimately, what matters is not how one dresses, but one’s heart before God. God says in 1 Samuel 16:7, “Man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.”
